Support

Funding and Levy Support

Understanding apprenticeship funding should not be a barrier. We help employers identify the right route and make the process clear, manageable and cost-effective.

For

Levy-paying employers

If your annual pay bill is more than £3 million, you pay the apprenticeship levy at 0.5% of your annual pay bill. Levy funds can be used to pay for apprenticeship training and assessment, and funds typically expire after 24 months if unused.

For

Non Levy-paying employers

If your organisation does not pay the levy, the government generally funds 95% of apprenticeship training costs, with the employer contributing 5% through co-investment.

For

CandLevy transfer supportidates

Some employers may be able to access transferred levy funds from larger organisations, helping reduce or remove the employer contribution where available. We can support you in identifying and accessing these opportunities where possible.

FAQs

Find answers to your most pressing questions about our educational programmes and services.

How much does it cost to take on an apprentice?

Most schools can access government funding to cover the majority — if not all — of the training costs. We’ll guide you through funding options so you know exactly what to expect.

Will managing an apprentice create extra work for staff?

No. Our apprentices are trained to provide support, not add to your workload. We also provide ongoing mentoring and guidance to ensure they integrate smoothly into your school.

How long do apprenticeships last?

Typically 12–18 months depending on the programme level. This provides enough time to build meaningful skills while delivering consistent support in your school.

What kind of work can apprentices do in a school setting?

They can handle IT troubleshooting, support classroom technology, assist with network or system management, and help embed digital tools into teaching and learning.

What support will our school receive from Primary Goal?

We provide end-to-end support: recruitment, onboarding, training delivery, mentoring, and regular progress reviews — so your school always feels supported.
